2024 Allianz Partners Richmond Marathon breaks alltime participant record

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- The 2024 Allianz Partners Richmond Marathon has broken its all-time participant record across all three events combined.
According to a spokesperson for the event, the 2024 Richmond Marathon has reached a record-breaking 20,939 participants this year, surpassing the previous record of 20,586 runners set in 2014.
Both the full marathon and the CarMax Richmond Half Marathon have officially sold out, hitting their capacities of 6,200 and 10,000 runners respectively.
"We are thrilled to see the incredible enthusiasm across all distances at the Allianz Partners Richmond Marathon," said Megan Schultz, Race Director of the Allianz Partners Richmond Marathon. "Selling out the full marathon and the CarMax Richmond Half Marathon highlights the growth of this event, and the strong sense of community Richmond has built around it."
According to the spokesperson, all three race distances have seen a rise in registrations, with the VCU Health Richmond 8k nearing its 5,000-participant cap as well.
Several roads to close this weekend for Richmond Marathon
The full marathon will begin at 7 a.m. with the half marathon to follow at 7:15 a.m. and the 8k at 7:30 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 16. For more information about the event, visit the Richmond Marathon's website.
