With numerous technological advancements in recent decades, one of the overlooked aspects is being able to text 911 during an emergency if for some reason the person is not able to call. Emergencies are unpredictable, scary, and volatile, so it is important to plan ahead and learn the options that are available to you. Green Bay firefighters rescue individual from vehicle crash in East River The Fond du Lac County Sheriff's Office provided the following steps to follow while texting 911 during an emergency: Enter the phone number “911” in the “To” field The first text message to 9-1-1 should be brief and contain the location of the emergency and the type of help needed Push the “Send” button Be prepared to answer questions and follow instructions from the 9-1-1 call taker Text in simple words – do not use abbreviations, emojis, or slang Keep the text message brief and concise "Please do not text and drive!" deputies reminded.
