BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) -- For the first time, a portion of the My French Book Fest is being held at the West Baton Rouge Museum in Port Allen. The free festival will be from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Nov. 14, 15 and 16. Previously, the fest was held in other parts of Louisiana. According to Alliance Française of New Orleans, French in Louisiana is supported by a network of 45 French immersion schools, which welcome 5,500 students and 115 teachers. My French Book Fest was created to promote youth literacy in French and create connections between authors of youth literature in French and young readers, according to a description of the festival on the museum's website. In addition to the fest, the museum is hosting several other events such as a Historical Happy Hour featuring Bruce "Sunpie" Barnes & The Louisiana Sunspots, drawing and paintings for children and free community yoga.
