Former ABB Inc. site soon to be redeveloped in Wickliffe
Nov 14, 2024
Premier Development Partners recently received funding to redevelop the former ABB Inc. site in Wickliffe.
Premier has been looking to fill the ABB buildings in the city since 2018. The company, through an auction, purchased the property, which consists of two buildings adjacent to each other on 29801 Euclid Ave. and 1400 Worden Road, equaling 570,000 square feet.
The purchase also came with a lot across from the building on Worden.

Wickliffe ABB Inc. site won’t sit empty forever, mayor says
“We’ve been working on this for a long time,” said Mayor Joe Sakacs. “Several months ago, I had to go along with Premier to Painesville to meet with the Ohio Land Bank and Sen. (Jerry) Cirino for state funding for ABB.”
According to Sakacs, the Euclid Avenue building will be demolished and construction of a new spec building will follow. The Worden Road building will remain.
“I believe they have the demo company picked out,” Sakacs said. “That’s going to start moving. We are going to see the old ABB building demolished after all the asbestos has been removed. It’s $3 million to take down that building because of the asbestos, so they have to do it the right way.”
In addition to the funding Premier had, they still needed $1.9 million, Sakacs said. Going forward, the plan is for Premier to have a spec building, another structure, but only brand new.
“They want to start that by May at the corner of Euclid Avenue and Worden Road,” he said. “They already have two top companies interested in that location, but they want a new building there before they’ll commit. I believe they want to commit to the whole campus, but that new building being built is crucial for this to happen.”
More details will be provided at a later time, Sakacs said.
“Their prayers have been answered,” he said. “They needed this money to demo that and it is going to happen soon, and then a new building will be built.”
