Light precipitation will arrive across the mountains early tomorrow morning when temperatures will be at their coldest. This will lead to a light wintry mix along the coldest valleys in the higher terrain, especially into Garrett, Allegany, and Mineral Counties. The opportunity for this wintry mix will only last a few hours before a switch back to rain, so accumulation and significant issues aren't expected. Light rain will slowly spread east across the rest of the area, likely reaching DC and the I-95 corridor around lunchtime. This soaking rainfall will last into the night, which is just what we need to help with our recent dry spell and ongoing fire concerns. Totals from this event won't be significant, but most of us will receive a quarter to a half inch. Showers will wrap up by Friday morning as this storm system spins away off the coast. Clouds will take some time to clear out, but temperatures will begin to warm up as we head into the weekend. Highs on Friday will reach the upper 50s, followed by low to mid-60s on Saturday and Sunday. It will be a bit breezy on Saturday, but plentiful sunshine throughout the weekend will keep warming us up while it stays quiet. The early half of next week will remain calm and seasonal, with passing clouds and a few stray showers possible on Monday. The next more significant storm system may arrive by next Wednesday or Thursday with more rain, which we'll keep an eye on. 7-Day Forecast: Tonight: Mostly cloudy with a light wintry mix possible across the mountains late.
