A Pacific storm will drop about a tenth of an inch of rain along the San Diego County coastline early Friday, 0.30 inches across inland valleys and foothills and roughly 0.50 inches in the mountains, the National Weather Service said. The county’s highest peaks also could receive about half an inch of snow from the storm, which originated in the Gulf of Alaska. The system’s outer bands will reach the county late Thursday night, followed by the onset of rain at about 2 p.m. Friday. Forecasters say Friday’s daytime high in San Diego will be 61 degrees, which is 10 degrees below average for mid-November. Escondido will be roughly the same. Julian will top out at about 45. The storm will clear off to the east by early Saturday and might be followed by light Santa Ana winds later in the weekend. The county needs rain to reduce the risk of wildfires. San Diego has received only 0.10 inches of precipitation since Oct. 1, when the new rainy season began. That’s 0.66 inches below average.
