Gamecock defensive end goes from gridiron to giving

Columbia, SC (WOLO) — – Kyle Kennard, A football player for the University of South Carolina (USC) who has been getting a lot of attention for his skills as a defensive end stand out is hoping to get even more attention for his generosity. The Carolina Gamecock will make a stop at the Boys and Girls Club to hand out Thanksgiving turkeys and holiday meals to 150 students and their families.
According to the Boys and Girls Club, Kennard is projected to be a first round draft pick in 2025 says he is committed to giving back to the Columbia community and this is a way for him to make good on that goal by having a presence making an even bigger impact in the lives of residents shining off of the field as well.
When speaking about the upcoming event Kennard said,
“I feel incredibly privileged to be in a position where I can bring a little happiness to these young people
and their families during this season of gratitude,” said Kennard. “The University of South Carolina and
McRae Sports Group have taught me the value of community and giving back, and I’m proud to share
that spirit with these families.”
The event that will leave more than a hundred families in need plenty to be thankful for is set to take place Monday November 18, 2024 at the Bethel Hanberry Elementary School (125 Boney Road, Blythewood, SC ) beginning at 4pm.
