ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – With colder weather making its way into the forecast, students at an Albuquerque charter school donated hundreds of items to the city's Department of Health, Housing, and Homelessness. Students at Alice King Community School, with the help of the city, collected items including clothing, hygiene products, and handmade blankets. The effort was part of the student's service-learning class and will help people at Gateway West. Stone said the expereince helped him connect with the community. "Especially like whenever you are doing the more hands-on parts of it where you are making the blankets, gathering the stuff, filling up the bags, like you felt an actual connection to these people who you've never really met before," he explained.
