WEDNESDAY 11/13/2024 9:09 a.m. (TELLER COUNTY, Colo.) — The Teller County Sheriff's Office (TCSO) said Highway 24 near Crystal Peak Road in Florissant is open after the highway was closed for over an hour on Wednesday morning, Nov. 13 due to a single-vehicle crash. According to the Colorado State Patrol, there were no injuries and the highway was closed so crews could recover the vehicle, which had slid down an embankment. At 8:50 a.m. on Wednesday, TCSO reported the highway was open and thanked the community for its cooperation. Both lanes of Highway 24 were closed just before 7:15 a.m. on Wednesday. The Sheriff's Office originally reported the crash at 6:50 a.m., and at the time, just the eastbound lane was closed. At around 7:13 a.m., TCSO reported via Facebook that both lanes of Highway 24 near Crystal Peak Road in Florissant were closed after announcing earlier that only the eastbound lane was closed. The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) reported via COTrip that the closure is between Crystal Peak Road and Mistletoe Lane, about a mile east of Florissant. The Sheriff's Office is asking individuals to avoid the area.
