A man was critically injured Monday afternoon when he was struck by a vehicle while running across a street in Vista outside of the crosswalk, a sheriff’s spokesperson said. The crash was reported just after 2 p.m. on Sycamore Avenue near Shadowridge Drive. The preliminary investigation showed the man was trying to run east across Sycamore Avenue before he was struck, sheriff’s officials said. The vehicle’s driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators, officials said.
