SELMA, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) - A locally-owned coffee shop in Selma is bringing one-of-a-kind flavors for customers to enjoy. Maiden Voyage Coffee Roasters Café owner Robert Vasquez says a trip to Seattle inspired him to bring his vision of opening a coffee shop, distinct from any corporate coffee shop, to life. "We're here to create an inviting space, a very friendly space," Vasquez said. "Something that doesn't feel corporate, more of a homey feel, and we're just here to make amazing coffee and food for everyone." Vasquez says his coffee shop specializes in a variety of quirky flavors his customers have already taken a liking to. "The nutty nomad is definitely a favorite. It's a marzipan, that we put into the coffee. It's kind of like a throwback to your Mexican childhood," Vasquez said. "The banana nut, cold brew latte is really popular. It's a newer drink as well." According to Vasquez, the specialty flavors are made with coffee beans and syrups that are primarily made right in the heart of Downtown Selma. The Maiden Voyage is open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m., Monday through Saturday at 2000 High Street in Selma.
