Marist Men’s Basketball Upsets Richmond 7972

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- Marist defeated Richmond 79-72 on Saturday, ending the Spiders' 11-game non-conference home win streak. Marist hit 14 three-pointers, the most by an opponent at the Robins Center in over seven years.
Marist took an early lead, hitting its first three shots from beyond the arc. Richmond responded with a run fueled by Mikkel Tyne’s two consecutive three-pointers, giving the Spiders a 17-12 lead. Richmond extended the lead to nine points, but Marist closed the gap with an 8-0 run, and Richmond led 44-41 at halftime.
In the second half, the game was tied at 56 before Marist went on a 9-0 run to take a 67-59 lead with five minutes remaining. Richmond cut the lead to two points, but Marist sealed the win with a three-pointer from Josh Pascarelli with 92 seconds left, making it 73-66.
DeLonnie Hunt led Richmond with a career-high 27 points. The loss was Richmond's first home defeat in non-conference play since November 2022.
Richmond will play road games against Charlotte on November 13 and Bucknell on November 16.
