WASHINGTON (DC News Now) -- Police said a man died in a shooting and that a woman was beaten in connection to the incident in Southeast Friday. Additionally, a teenage boy and two men were hurt in other shootings in that quadrant of the District. The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) said that just after 11 a.m., officers responded to the 3000 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Ave. for a shooting. They found a 16-year-old boy who had been shot in the leg. Medics took the boy to the hospital for treatment. Moments later, police found out that a man walked into United Medical Center with a gunshot wound to his upper body. MPD said it believes the man was injured in the shooting on Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue. People around DMV, country report recieving racist text messages in days after election Shortly after 12:30 p.m., officers were called to the 1300 block of Southern Ave. for another shooting. Medics took a man, who had been hit by gunfire, to the hospital where he died. Police said a woman was also beaten during the incident and that she was with the man who died from his injuries. MPD is looking for a gray sedan that was seen speeding away from Southern Avenue.
