AUSTIN (KXAN) -- The MICHELIN Guide Ceremony is expected to be held Monday evening in Houston, a spokesperson for MICHELIN Guide said in a news release.
Houston was chosen as the host city, the release said. The ceremony will be livestreamed on YouTube at 7 p.m.
“Houston is full of culinary innovation and world class hospitality, which goes hand in hand with our values at the MICHELIN Guide. Together with Houston First, as well as the support of Travel Texas, we look forward to an evening of celebration as we toast to the restaurants that our Inspectors have chosen to award in Texas," Gwendal Poullennec, international director of the MICHELIN Guides, said in a September news release.
Texas could soon be home to a Michelin star restaurant
Chefs were also invited to the event to see whether their restaurants would receive "a MICHELIN Star or another MICHELIN Guide distinction," the release said.
The MICHELIN Guide holds its annual ceremony in a different city every year, the release said.
"With one of the United States' most dynamic food scenes boasting world-class dining, Houston proved to be the perfect fit for the first MICHELIN Guide Texas Ceremony."
In July, MICHELIN Guide announced Texas could soon have a Michelin star restaurant — the 11th location on The MICHELIN Guide's list of North American destinations, the company said in a news release.
