19yearold Canon AFB airman rescued from flood waters by Post Volunteer Firefighters

LUBBOCK, Texas -- A 19-year-old airman from Canon Air Force Base in Clovis, New Mexico, was rescued from floodwaters on Highway 84 just south of Post, Texas on Friday morning.

Garza County Sheriff Terry Morgan said the call came in just before 7:00 a.m. for a car that went off the highway near the Johnathan McDonald memorial marker. According to the Sheriff, the vehicle was in a riverbed with quick-rising waters.

Post Volunteer Firefighter Stetson Cimental and Sebastian Chapa went into the rushing water and rescued the airman, who was the only person in the vehicle. Sheriff Morgan said the man was not injured.
Garza County is still on a flood watch through Friday evening.
