AUSTIN (KXAN) — Thousands will gather in downtown Austin Monday to commemorate Veterans Day, the annual holiday recognizing those who've served in the armed forces. Austin's parade will begin at 9:30 a.m. and run along South Congress Avenue between Cesar Chavez and 11th streets before wrapping at 11 a.m. As a result, a host of road closures are planned downtown between the early part of Monday through 1 p.m. RELATED: How many veterans live in Texas? A full breakdown of road closures is available below: Those needing to travel around the downtown area can still use Lamar Boulevard, South First Street, Colorado Street, Brazos Street and Red River Street to travel north and south. East-west connections are also available via Martin Luther King. Jr. Boulevard, 15th Street and Riverside Drive. Nearly 50 organizations will take part in this year's parade alongside over 1,200 participants and 132 floats and vehicles. More details on the event are available online.
