Bakersfield Symphony and Youth Symphony Orchestras collaborate for 'Friends and Inspirations' concert Saturday

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) -- The Bakersfield Symphony and Youth Symphony orchestras will be taking the stage at Mechanics Bank Theater for their "Friends & Inspirations" collaboration concert this Saturday.
While this will not be the first time both orchestras have shared the stage, it will be the biggest performance to date, with 115 musicians showcasing their talent.

The joint concert will feature the "the best of the best" youth string and wind brass percussion players in Kern, according to Bakersfield Youth Symphony conductor Dr. Leo Sakomoto.
The Youth Symphony string section will open the concert with "Lyric for Strings" by composer George Walker.

After an intermission, the Bakersfield Symphony will close the night with Edward Elgar's "Enigma Variations."
