DUBLIN, Ohio (WCMH) -- For some new moms, the transition from pregnancy to navigating life with a newborn can be challenging.  Families are not only adjusting to an additional family member but also the health challenges that may come related to childbirth or breastfeeding.   OhioHealth is looking to address that need with a new, first-of-its-kind clinic.   The Fourth Trimester Clinic is located inside the Women’s Health Outpatient Center at OhioHealth Dublin Methodist Hospital. It’s an outpatient clinic and focuses on several aspects of childbirth including lactation medicine, breastfeeding, postpartum, and high blood pressure checks and management.  Allyson Greenwald, a new mom with two little ones, explains her needs after childbirth were specific and it was a gamechanger to have a resource focused on that period of her life.    "I think what I would need to hear in that state, especially being a first-time mom, is that you matter, too, that it's okay that you're struggling,” she said.  Greenwald sought care at the suggestion of a nurse after fighting some lactation-related issues postpartum.    "It's okay that things are not right, and there are people out there to help you and get you back to where you need to be,” she said. “I know that for me it was hard to ask for help."  Treatment at the clinic can be obtained by referrals from primary care, obstetric, pediatric and family medicine providers as well as lactation consultants, occupational and speech therapists.
