Willoughby Hills approves West Pines subdivision homes

The Willoughby Hills Planning and Zoning Commission and Architectural Board of Review recently approved three homes in Perrino Builders and Remodeling’s West Pines subdivision.
According to Council Vice President Tanya Taylor Draper, the West Pines, as well as the Maypine subdivision, is a home owner’s association.
“Your living style is determined by your Declaration of Covenants, which is similar to a rulebook,” she said. “This is a legal document that is reported to the county and must be followed. I urge everyone to read this as it may affect your way of life. It is important to understand the rules for this development.”
After more than two years of being involved with Perrino Builders, the city Planning Commission and Architectural Board of Review approved the preliminary plat for West Pines. The price point for the homes will be more than $400,000, according to city officials.
“This isn’t just your general, generic housing project,” Mayor Chris Hallum said. “This was something unique that had never been done before. I know 2 1/2 years seems like a long time, but sometimes things like that can take longer. It ended up being handled properly.
“It was passed unanimously, so I’m happy with how well everyone ended up working together and finding a solution that while not everyone may be thrilled about understands.”
The project consists of smaller lot sizes and, being less area to maintain, the homes are geared toward senior citizens who may want to stay in the city, but do not want to have a large lot to care for anymore, Hallum said. This is not a deed restriction, however.
“Anybody can actually live there,” he said.
