NEW MEXICO (KRQE) – Veterans Day is on Monday, Nov. 11, and, in observance of the federal holiday, many places throughout New Mexico are closed or are holding special events. Below is a guide to some of the changes to expect for Veterans Day 2024. Closed on Veterans Day Albuquerque City of Albuquerque community, health and social service, childhood development, and senior centers City of Albuquerque animal shelters and medical clinic City of Albuquerque offices Albuquerque Bernalillo County Libraries City of Albuquerque senior meal sites Rio Rancho City of Rio Rancho offices and facilities Rio Rancho Public Libraries City of Rio Rancho senior and community centers Santa Fe City of Santa Fe trash and recycling collection will occur one day later through the end of the week City of Santa Fe offices and facilities Santa Fe Public Libraries Santa Fe senior and recreation centers Santa Fe Municipal Court Parking meters Free parking in metered spaces. Surface lots and garages are still subject to fees. Open on Veterans Day Albuquerque City of Albuquerque trash and recycling collection will run as usual Albuquerque 311 Community Contact Center ABQ RIDE and Sun Van Albuquerque BioPark, Aquarium, Tingley Beach, and Botanic Garden Lucky Paws Adoption Center and Animal Humane New Mexico Albuquerque Open Space Visitors Center City of Albuquerque indoor swimming pools City of Albuquerque Tennis Facilities Santa Fe Santa Fe Trails and Ride will operate on a holiday schedule Marty Sanchez Links de Santa Fe Golf Course Specials and Events Throughout the state New Mexico State Parks Division day-use and overnight camping fees will be waived Monday for veterans, active military members, National Guard, and their dependents. Albuquerque Veterans Day Parade 8 a.m. Monday - Meet at USS Bullhead Memorial Park for 8:30 a.m. staging, 9 a.m. departure, and 10 a.m. parade, ending at New Mexico Veterans Memorial Park. Veterans Day Ceremony 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Monday - Tolling of the bells at 11 a.m., keynote speakers, flyover courtesy of the New Mexico Chile Flight, and music by The Dukes of Albuquerque Concert Band at New Mexico Veterans Memorial. 25% off green fees for veterans at City of Albuquerque Golf Courses Las Cruces Veterans Day Parade 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 9 - The parade will stage at Main Street and Lohman Avenue, traveling north on Main Street to the roundabout near City Hall, then south on Water Street and back to the staging area. Opening ceremonies start at 10:30 a.m. Rio Rancho Parade and Ceremony 10 a.m. Monday - Parade starting on Southern Boulevard between Country Club Drive and Pinetree Road. Roswell Enduring The Storm Veterans Day Parade and Celebration 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 9 - Parade starting at 10 a.m. at the Chaves County Courthouse and heading north to the Wool Bowl. Socorro Veterans Day Ceremony 11 a.m. Monday - Ceremony at Isidro Baca Park, featuring remarks by dignitaries honoring military veterans.
