HAWAII COUNTY (KHON2) - One of the races we've been closely following is the race for Hawaii County Mayor. And the latest numbers likely put Kimo Alameda ahead of incumbent Mayor Mitch Roth.
"Last night I wasn't sure because the results wasn't real for sure. But now I feel pretty confident. 5,000 point lead is a hard margin to close," said Alameda.
We asked him what his message was to those who did not vote for him.
"We're all one island and I want to let them know that I have nothing against Mitch Roth. We're friends. We work together. I think he did the best he could with what he got. It's just that I'm a different type of leader. I'm impatient for results and that makes me stay up at night and how to get things done quickly. Shoutout to the Mitch supporters and Mitch and the Roth campaign, you guys ran a clean and positive campaign and best wishes to them as well," said Alameda.
