State Sen. Richard Roth appears to be leading in early returns in the race for the District 1 seat on the Riverside County Board of Supervisors. District 1 includes Good Hope, Highgrove, part of Jurupa Valley, Riverside, March Air Reserve Base, Mead Valley, Meadowbrook and Perris. After 12 years in office, Supervisor Kevin Jeffries opted not to pursue reelection, leaving the District 1 seat up for grabs. According to early election results released at 8:30 p.m., Roth leads the District 1 race with 54.61% of the vote, followed by former Democratic Assemblymember Jose Medina with 45.39%. See the latest election results. Medina and Roth, D-Riverside, advanced to the runoff because neither received a majority of the vote in the March 5 primary election.
