Election 2024: Voters pick Coussan for Public Service Commission District 2 seat

BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — Voters chose Jean-Paul Coussan, a Republican, to represent District 2 on the Louisiana Public Service Commission on Tuesday, Nov. 5. The PSC regulates public utilities and common carriers across the state.
Coussan drew 54% of the 418,662 votes cast. "Nick" Laborde, a Democrat, got 26% of the support, and Republican Julie Quinn had 20%.
Dr. Craig Greene currently holds the seat.
Nationwide, voters cast ballots for the next president of the United States. Across Louisiana, people decided on a proposed constitutional amendment and chose representation in the U.S. Congress.
According to the Louisiana Secretary of State’s office, 22 parishes had local races and propositions; 22 had local races but no propositions; 15 had state and presidential elections only; and five had local propositions but not local races.

Any runoff elections will be held on Saturday, Dec. 7. Early voting for that election will be from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Nov. 22-30, excluding Sunday, Nov. 24, Thursday, Nov. 28, and Friday, Nov. 29. Residents who want to vote early can use the GeauxVote mobile app to find their early voting locations, review their sample ballot and check out the Election Day voting site.
