RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — Many people showed up to polling locations on Election Day ready to cast their ballot. As North Carolinians make their picks, two candidates running for Lieutenant Governor are making their last push to voters. Democratic candidate and N.C. Senator Rachel Hunt spent time greeting voters outside a polling location at Lacy Elementary in Raleigh. Guilford County prepares for election day She told CBS 17 she's keeping key issues in mind. "My top issues are restoring women's reproductive health care rights, especially in North Carolina and making sure we keep them in the country and fully funding public schools. We have a huge problem with that now. I've had people from all over the state come up to me and say they have to fill in for staff because there are not enough staff for instance working in the lunchrooms of their kids elementary school and we should not have a state where that happens," said Hunt. Republican candidate for Lieutenant Governor Hal Weatherman believes he also has what it takes to win the Lieutenant Governor race. He voted in person Tuesday and met with voters at a polling site in Wake Forest. "I want to restore what I call the basic concept of what I call the dignity of work which I think we've lost in this country. If I win, I will serve on the state board of education and I will serve on the state board of community college. I want to drive a whole new generation to working with their hands. working in the trades create a new college degree the 2-2 degree where you go the first two years to a trade school and you finish off with a 4-year degree," said Weatherman. Other candidates also came to polling locations to talk with voters.  Democratic candidate for Governor, Josh Stein, spoke with voters at a polling location at Chavis Community Center.
