COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) -- A bakery chain with storefronts nationwide has quietly closed its central Ohio location after 14 years of business.
Gigi's Cupcakes at 2019 Polaris Parkway shuttered late last month, first signaled by the location's Facebook page that swapped its cover photo to a neon "Closed" image. The Polaris location has discontinued its phone number, was removed from the Gigi's website and is marked on Google as permanently closed.

The location originally opened in 2012, down the street from Polaris Fashion Place and near The Lash Lounge, Levi's 4 Floors, and Polaris Dental Care.
Gigi's in-store menu boasted a selection of classic and seasonal cupcakes and cakes, with each cupcake topped with two of the chain's signature icing swirls. Each location, like the Polaris store, designed custom cupcakes and cakes for a series of celebrations, like baby showers, birthdays, graduations, weddings, and more.
While Gigi's storefront is no longer serving up dessert, several other bakeries have recently opened in central Ohio. A new bakery called Bite This opened its first brick-and-mortar location in Clintonville earlier this summer.

Littleton's Market Bakery is also now open inside the North Market, headed by executive pastry chef Aaron Clouse, who’s been on the Food Network, and lead baker Desi Vasquez, who was most recently the executive head baker of an artisan bakery in Houston.
Resch's Bakery announced in August it has plans to open a new shop at 150 N. Hamilton Road. The Gahanna store will become the bakery’s main production space, according to owner Frank Resch.
