Nov 04, 2024
WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) – People stood in the rain, lining the sidewalks outside the Sedgwick County Election Office Monday morning. They were among the last to take advantage of early in-person voting for the general election.
The Sedgwick County Election Office closed early in-person voting at noon Monday, but the approximately 200 people still in line at noon were allowed to vote.

"I'll wait as long as I need to," Alexis Charbonneau, the last voter, said. "I don't got anything else to do today."
"It's gone very smoothly," Laura Rainwater, Sedgwick County election commissioner, said. "They've been willing to stand out in the rain. We brought some canopies in from emergency management to help, but obviously, there weren't enough canopies for that many voters."
The election office added 24 paper polling stations, hoping to get people through the line more quickly.
