This year’s ceremony will be held at the Mentor Municipal Cemetery memorial promenade located at 6881 Hopkins Road. The keynote speaker will be Cindy Parsons with the Wounded Warrior Project whose son, Shane, was severely injured in combat in 2006 while deployed in Iraq. Parsons left her job as a registered nurse and, for the next decade, served as Shane’s primary caregiver. In 2009, Parsons helped Wounded Warrior Project lobby Congress for the passage of the Caregiver and Veteran Omnibus Health Service Act of 2010, a bill providing assistance and support for caregivers of injured servicemen and women returning from war. The public is encouraged to attend and veteran groups are invited to participate. Contact Recreation Coordinator Kevin Cindric at 440-974-5720 or [email protected] for details. In the event of inclement weather, the ceremony will be moved to the Mentor Senior Center located at 8484 Munson Road. • The Willoughby-Eastlake Public Library will be celebrating and honoring veterans by collecting gently used books at any of its libraries between Nov. 11 and 15. All items received will be donated to the Louis Stokes Cleveland Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center. All donations can be dropped off at any of the four library locations: Eastlake Public Library, 36706 Lakeshore Blvd.,; Willoughby Public Library, 30 Public Square; Willoughby Hills Public Library, 35400 Chardon Road; and Willowick Public Library, 263 E. 305 St.
