The California Highway Patrol early Monday responded to a report of a small airplane landing on Highway 85 in the South Bay. At about 7 a.m., the single-engine plane landed in the southbound lanes of Highway 85 north of De Anza Boulevard near Cupertino, initially blocking at least three lanes, according to the CHP. The plane, which was only occupied by the pilot, was running low on fuel, the CHP said. No injuries were immediately reported. This is a breaking story. Refresh for updates.
