Arrest made after shooting at Muncie house party

MUNCIE, Ind. -- A Muncie man has been arrested after two people were shot at a house party early Saturday morning.
According to a news release from the Muncie Police Department, 21-year-old Camran Byrd was taken into custody on the following preliminary charges:
One count of attempted murder, a Level 1 felony
One count of aggravated battery, a Level 3 felony
Two counts of criminal recklessness, a Level 5 felony
One count of pointing a firearm, a Level 6 felony
A misdemeanor count of resisting law enforcement.
At around 12:29 a.m. on Saturday, Delaware County dispatch received a call of a reported shooting at a home in the 900 block of W. Carson Street in Muncie.

When officers with the Muncie Police Department, as well as other law enforcement agencies, responded to the scene, they found two individuals who reportedly had gunshot wounds.
According to court documents, officers located the two individuals outside the home. The documents said there was a party and as police showed up, individuals started running away from the home. Witnesses reported hearing gunshots from inside the home, which reportedly stemmed from an argument at the party.
The release said that one of the individuals who had a gunshot wound was transported to an Indianapolis hospital and is now in stable condition. The other person was treated at the scene and released.
As part of the department's investigation, several witnesses were reportedly interviewed by detectives. The witnesses led detectives to identify Byrd as a suspect in the shooting, according to the release.
At around 3:27 p.m. on Saturday, detectives located Byrd who reportedly ran away from them. After a short pursuit, Byrd was arrested.
