PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) -- A bar and lounge in Providence is temporarily closed after a customer and security guard were involved in a fight inside early Sunday morning, according to a city spokesperson.
During an altercation around 1:18 a.m. at Afrique D'Lounge on Spruce Street, the security guard "produced a knife," the spokesperson said, resulting in the customer receiving a cut on their forehead.
The security guard was identified as Qasim Flynn, according to the spokesperson.
Flynn was placed into custody and charged with disorderly conduct, the spokesperson said.
The Providence Board of Licenses held an emergency meeting Sunday afternoon and voted to suspend the establishment's licenses for 72 hours.
Dylan Conley, who chairs the city's Board of Licenses, told 12 News the security guard is from a third-party company called "Knight Life Security."
Federal Hill Commerce Association President Rick Simone said they were made aware "of an unfortunate incident that occurred late last night at a lounge."
"We are in communication with the police department and support the decision to investigate the matter further," Simone said. "Federal Hill is a vibrant destination filled with dozens of small businesses who take great pride in providing a high level of service to our guests."
A show cause hearing for the business is scheduled for Nov. 7.
