NY congressional races to impact House balance of power
Nov 01, 2024
ALBANY, N.Y. (WTEN) — The 2024 presidential election has entered its final stretch ahead of election day. Several key races for New York congressional districts could have impacts on the balance of power in the U.S. House of Representatives.
This week on Empire State Weekly, we break down the key races that could determine house control. Republicans hold a 220 to 212 advantage in the house, but with three vacancies and several tight races across New York, that could change after November 5.
Also this week, Erica Smitka, the Executive Director for the League of Women Voters, explained some last-minute reminders for voters heading to the polls. She also reassured voters that the election results will take time to be certified.
"We're reinforcing to folks that we won't know the results right after. Just be patient, things are working as they should," said Smitka.
