ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – The 2024 election is almost here and voters are reminded that but on ballots not only contain political candidates, but also General Obligation (GO) Bonds. These GO Bonds provide additional funding for local projects.

Bond question two would give $8.8 million in funding to projects in and around Albuquerque. Bernalillo County Fire Rescue has items that would receive funding from the bond. "Bond question two will help us in securing a rooftop replacement at Fire Stations 32 and 38. Those stations are well over 20 years old," BernCo Fire and Rescue Public Information Officer William Harris said. Some of that money would also go towards some more modern rescue equipment to replace part of the old fleet.
$2 million of that bond will be going towards a project to bring a new family services building to the South Valley. Another part of this bond would give funding for law enforcement vehicle fleets and repairs/renovations in other county buildings. "It's also for any of the buildings that we occupy. That includes a little over 150 buildings within the county that we're responsible for. That houses everything from our headquarters downtown to various community centers," Deputy County Manager Elias Archuleta said.
Funding for GO Bonds comes from federal and state grants.
