Giving students the experience of voting in election lead-up
Every four years, students at Austin High School take part in a mock election where they get to register and cast their votes ahead of the official election day. “It’s an opportunity to give students the experience of voting,” said AHS social studies teacher Rayce Hardy. “The more we can get them excited about their civic duty, the more likely they are to go out and take part in the actual election once they turn 18.” The results of Friday’s mock election won’t be available until next week.
