SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) -- Rain is expected to fall on parts of the Bay Area Friday into Saturday before fire weather concerns ramp up Sunday, according to the National Weather Service. A slight chance of showers will persist during the day Friday, according to KRON4 Meteorologist Kathy Trafton. Chances of rain will increase up to 100 percent heading into Friday night, according to NWS. An incoming cold front is expected to bring widespread rainfall beginning Friday afternoon and potentially lasting into Saturday afternoon. Mask mandates return to SF Bay Area Highest totals are expected in Napa, Santa Cruz, Santa Rosa and Cloverdale. But major Bay Area cities like San Francisco, San Jose, and Oakland could see showers, with totals possibly as high as a quarter of an inch. Graphic: NWS According to the National Weather Service, a drying trend kicks off Sunday and will continue into next week. This could bring an increased risk of fire danger, the NWS is cautioning. The weekend's storm could be good news for skiers. With a winter weather advisory going into effect for the Sierra Friday night, ski resorts are hoping to open this month, with some possibly opening as early as next week.
