MUNCIE, Ind. — A Muncie man was arrested after reportedly hitting a woman with a shovel, according to court documents. Jacob Ryan Scharbough, 39, was charged with Domestic Battery with a Child Present. Officers were dispatched to the 12000 block of S Trails End Drive on a report of a domestic problem where a male struck a female with a shovel. Upon arrival, officers made contact with the complainant who spoke to officers on what happened. According to court documents, the victim was hesitant to speak with police due to fear of retaliation. The victim eventually began crying and admitted that it was an ongoing situation. Scharbrough allegedly picked up a shovel and struck the victim in the head with it. This is an active investigation.
