I want ice cream!" shouted little Wonka. To twin, teenage mutant ninja turtles "Trick or treat," said Rafael and Leonardo. Thousands of trick or theaters packed Kahala Mall this Halloween hoping to fill their bags with candy. "I like it when we go trick or treating," said one trick-or-treater dressed as the Staypuffed marshmellow man. Jennifer Lynn, Manager of the Complete Kitchen said she looks forward to this each year. "It's fun," Lynn said. "I love it. People are lining up since four o'clock, and we can't wait to see this crowd." "We're from the country," explained Naysha, a mother of four surrounded by her kids. "We heard this is the place to be in town, so we just wanted our kids to have the opportunity to trick or treat." For Kaimuki residents, Charmaine and David, this was the only place they wanted to bring their daughter Game on: Development team selected for new stadium, mixed-use community "It's her second Halloween, and Kahala Mall is the safest place. We feel safe, bringing her here," Charmaine explained. "My favorite part about Halloween is just I'm watching everyone get dressed up and I just like a sense of community. Everyone's in such a great mood during the holidays." The marketing coordinator for Kahala Mall said that this is one of the biggest turnouts she's seen in the last ten years, with a lot of people coming here to the mall to avoid the rainy weather outside. And despite the very long line, snaking around the mall, everyone was in good spirits. Honolulu resident, Kelsey, was there with her husband and daughter, the trio dressed as Frankenstein, his bride and Dr. Jekyl. "It's very kid friendly," Kelsey added. "Wtih AC. And we thought it was gonna rain, so we wanted to come here.Yeah, we just like the environment a lot. Making memories as a family." Pearl Ridge Center was all jam-packed for its annual candy crawl, with more than ten thousand trick-or-treaters decked out to celebrate the event. And in Waikiki, just after sundown, many getting into the Halloween spirit. The scene still fairly mellow along Kalakaua Avenue, but expected to get much more hectic.
