Teen brings gun to Whitehaven High School football game

MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- A teen has been detained after police say he brought a gun to a Whitehaven High School football game.
At 7:27 p.m., officers responded to a weapon law violation/felony at Whitehaven High School.
Upon arrival, officers spoke with a Memphis-Shelby County Schools Resource Officer who told them that the suspect jumped the fence to enter a football game at Whitehaven High School Stadium.
The SRO said that the school district has a no-backpack policy during school events.

He said he saw the suspect sitting on the stadium bleachers during a crowded football game on school property carrying a black backpack.
The SRO said he searched the suspect's backpack and located a black Taurus revolver (.357 Magnum with live rounds in the chamber) inside.
SRO said that he detained the suspect.
Officers tagged the revolver and the suspect was taken to the Shelby County Youth Justice and Educational Center.
