Third floor of New Bedford apartment building burns

NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (WLNE) — Five people were displaced after a third floor apartment in New Bedford caught fire on Thursday afternoon.
The New Bedford and Dartmouth Fire Departments responded to Harborview Towers on Acushnet Avenue for a balcony on fire around 2:45 p.m.
New Bedford Fire Chief Scott Kruger said several people were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Kruger said the department received reports of people trapped inside the building, adding that all were evacuated safely.
Officials said two adults and three children were displaced due to the fire.
ABC 6 News crews on scene saw several surrounding streets were closed due to the response.
