COLLETON COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – Firefighters in Colleton County extinguished a fire that spread through a mobile home in the Round O community Wednesday night.
Family members in the residence on Mol Senia Lane smelled smoke at home and found the roof above the utility room burning.
Two adults and three children were able to safely exit the home, Colleton County Fire-Rescue said.
Crews from a nearby Augusta Highway fire responded to the residence and found flames shooting through the north end of the home as the fire had extended from the attic space and halfway through the building.
All of the ceilings in the home’s north end were pulled, and firefighters were able to keep the flames mainly to the attic. However, the home has extensive smoke and water damage, making it unlivable.
Investigators believe the fire could have been electrical starting from the breaker box in the utility room.
