The Providence College women’s basketball team defeated Southern Connecticut, 66-39, in an exhibition game at Alumni Hall in Providence, R.I. on Tuesday, Oct. 29. GAME FLOW / NOTES: • The Friars started the game on a 7-0 run and extended their lead to 19-3 with 2:26 remaining in the first quarter. • Providence led 23-7 at the conclusion of the first quarter. • The Friars pushed their lead to 21 (34-13) with 4:12 remaining in the second quarter. • Providence took a 38-20 lead into the locker room at halftime. • Emily Archibald and Grace Efosa each recorded double figures in the first half. Archibald tallied 12 points, while Efosa netted 10. • The Friars used a 14-0 run during a four-minute span in the third to gain a 57-24 lead (4:04). • SCSU closed the third with a 7-0 spurt to get within 57-31 at the break. • Providence outscored the Owls 9-8 in the fourth quarter to take a 66-39 victory. • Archibald paced three Friars in double figures with 14 points and also added a team-high eight rebounds. • Efosa finished with 13 points and freshman Orlagh Gormley chipped in 11 points and and seven boards. • Kylee Sheppard returned to the court after missing the final 28 games of the 2023-24 campaign to record nine points, seven rebounds and four assists. WHAT’S NEXT: • The Friars officially open the 2024-25 season on Monday, Nov. 4 against Mercy University.
