The surprise is a bit part of this foraging adventure. But still, we ask 'what will they be getting?'
A recent study has found what candies folks in Hawaii are most drawn to; but remember, this is based on who is purchasing the candy rather than what is most popular amongst keiki.
In Hawaiʻi, the most popular Halloween candies for 2024 are Hershey's Mini Bars, Butterfinger and Skittles.
The study shows what people like to eat while trick-or-treating. This information is collected from candy sales across the U.S. over the past 17 years. Hence, the favorite of those purchasing rather than what keiki are desiring.
Overall, across the United States for Halloween 2024, M&M’s have become the top candy in the nation as they replace Reese’s Cups.
According to the study, people enjoy M&M’s because of their different flavors and easy-to-eat style. Sour Patch Kids are also popular, taking the third spot, which shows that many people love sour treats during Halloween.
Surprisingly, candy corn has moved up in popularity too, ranking seventh. A shocking place for a candy that has received so much hate over past years.
In Hawaii, you might want to keep those top candies in mind if you're giving out treats. The overall Halloween candy spending is expected to reach about $3.5 billion this year, even though that’s a little less than last year.
But as we know Halloween is still a big deal for candy lovers, especially for those who love to share the joy.
