MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Ind. — One person was killed and another was injured during a crash in Montgomery County on Sunday night. According to a press release from Indiana State Police, the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office responded to a crash on U.S. Highway 231 around 6 p.m. After an investigation, police determined a 2006 Freightliner semi and a 2016 Honda CRV were involved in the crash. Investigators believe the driver of the Freightliner was travelling northbound on U.S. Highway 231 when the driver of the Honda pulled into its path. The Freightliner and Honda ultimately could not avoid each other and a collision happened. The semi and the Honda came to rest on the west side of U.S. Highway 231, which is just north of State Road 234. A passenger in the Honda was pronounced dead at the scene by the Montgomery County Coroner's Office. Officials are withholding the decedent's name until their family is properly notified of their death. The driver of the Honda was transported from the scene to an Indianapolis-area hospital via medical helicopter. ISP reported that the Honda driver's condition is currently unknown. The semi driver was not injured during the crash. ISP is still investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash. As of this article's publication, no additional information on the crash had been made available.
