CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) -- A juvenile was convicted of 1st Degree Murder and Use of a Firearm in the Commission of Murder on Wednesday, Oct. 23 in the Circuit Court of the City of Chesapeake. The victim, Rashee Parson, was standing outside of an apartment in the 3000 block of Parkside Drive when the juvenile and a codefendant greeted him and continued walking. The two later turned around, returned to Parson and began shooting him, according to the Commonwealth's evidence. There was no additional interaction or confrontation that led to the shooting. Both shooters, acquaintances of Parson, fled the scene. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner performed an autopsy and located twenty separate gunshot wounds in Parson's body. After the juvenile's arrest, a search into his cell phone revealed data that confirmed him being at the scene of the crime. The jury found the juvenile guilty after three days of testimony and around one hour of deliberation. A sentencing hearing will be held on Feb. 27, 2025. Judge Marjorie A.T. Arrington, who presided over the jury trial, will sentence the defendant. The maximum penalty is life in prison.
