KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The Kansas City Police Department is investigating after two police cars were hit in a Sunday morning crash. According to KCPD, just after 4:30 a.m., officers with the Metro Patrol Division (MPD) and the South Patrol Division (SPD) were dispatched to southbound 71 Highway near Bannister Road on reports of a crash. Upon arrival, officers found a Dodge Charger wrecked and abandoned, prompting police to call tow services to move the car. Vigil held for 10-year-old girl who was killed 10 years ago in KCK While MPD waited in one vehicle and SPD waited in another for the tow truck to arrive, officers said a Ford Fusion came from behind and hit the rear of one of the police cars. This caused the vehicle to lunge forward and hit the other police car and the abandoned Dodge Charger. Impairment is currently under investigation, according to KCPD.
