FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) — A semi swerves into a historic house off Van Buren Street after trying to miss a car driving the wrong way early Saturday morning. The Fort Wayne Police Department (FWPD) was called to the 800 block of W. Wayne Street around 2:45 a.m. Saturday on reports of a semi that crashed into a house. An officer at the scene told a WANE 15 reporter that a Chevy Silverado was driving the wrong way on Wayne Street. A Southern Pine Trucking Gas semi was driving south on Van Buren Street and swerved to avoid the Chevy attempting to cross Wayne Street while going the wrong way. Traffic on Van Buren does not stop at the intersection. The semi drove into the house at the intersection of Wayne and Van Buren. FWPD officers told the WANE 15 reporter, the driver of the Chevy was suspected to be under the influence at the time of the crash. There have been no reported injuries at this time. This crash remains under investigation.
