EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WFRV) - A 39-year-old Eau Claire man was taken into custody Thursday following an incident involving a knife and a standoff with law enforcement. According to the Eau Claire Police Department, officers responded to an apartment complex in the 4600 block of Kappus Drive at around 12:15 p.m. after receiving a report of a man, identified as Mohamed Iman, allegedly holding a knife to a person's throat. The victim managed to escape, while Iman barricaded himself inside his residence. Nearby schools were placed on secure lockdown, with classes proceeding as usual but access to the buildings restricted. The victim, who had gone to the residence to pick up their significant other’s dog, told authorities that Iman had forced them into a vehicle while threatening them with a knife, demanding to be taken to the victim's significant other. Officers negotiated with Iman for over two hours before he surrendered. Another individual exited the apartment and was taken into custody but later released. Man arrested after crashing into vacant house, sparking major fire in Wisconsin Iman faces charges including kidnapping, first-degree recklessly endangering safety, disorderly conduct, unlawful use of a telephone, and resisting an officer. He has not been formally charged at this time. The incident remains under investigation.
