SHELBY, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — A longtime Shelby barbecue restaurant will be closed temporarily following a fire that caused $30,000 in estimated damages Thursday night.  According to Shelby Fire & Rescue, there was a fire at Red Bridges Barbecue Lodge on East Dixon Boulevard on Thursday, Oct. 24. It started in the cooking pits and was confined to the area.  Firefighters say there was no fire or water damage but some light smoke in the restaurant that we cleared out in about 20 minutes. The investigation is being completed by the Fire Marshal’s office. Shelby Fire crews were assisted by the Cleveland Volunteer Fire Department, Cleveland County EMS and Shelby Police. There were no injuries to civilians or firefighters.  The restaurant, operating since 1946, offered the following message to customers:  “Due to a fire that was contained within the firewall, we will be closed until further notice. If you have any orders with us, we will reach out once we’re able to safely resume operations. Thank you for your understanding and support. Stay safe!”
