BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — An inmate at the Dixon Correctional Insitute in East Feliciana Parish received a preliminary positive test result for Tuberculosis, according to the Department of Public Safety and Corrections. According to officials, the inmate is being isolated and receiving treatment out of an abundance of caution. Officials said that there is not an outbreak at the Dixon Correctional Institute and the prison is not on lockdown. "However, the Department has suspended routine inmate transfers into and out of the prison for the time being," said the DOC. Officials stated that they are currently working with the Louisiana Department of Health. Rep. The DOC stated, "There is no reason to suspect a connection to the drug-resistant TB case at the ICE facility at this time."
