COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) – Prosecuting and defense attorneys are expected to address the jury for the first time Thursday in the murder trial of a former Columbus police officer who shot an unarmed man.  The trial against former officer Adam Coy, 48, who is facing charges of murder, reckless homicide and felonious assault in the 2020 death of Andre Hill, 47, has reached its fourth day. After jury selection began Monday and wrapped up on Wednesday afternoon, opening statements are scheduled for Thursday morning. Giving the prosecution's opening statement will likely be either Deputy Chief Counsel Anthony Pierson or Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Renee Amlin. Coy's defense team includes attorneys Mark Collins and Kaitlyn Stephens. After opening statements, the first witnesses for the prosecution are expected to be called.
