Man allegedly involved in Lutcher fatal shooting arrested

LUTCHER, La. (WGNO) — An arrest has been made in the case of a Lutcher area shooting that left a man dead and another wounded.
Deputies with the St. James Parish Sheriff's Office arrested 28-year-old Kendrick Kendall Armant in connection to the October shooting death of 19-year-old Makhai Ramon Martin.
Around 8:40 p.m. on Oct. 15, deputies responded to the call of a shooting in the 2100 block of Highway 44 where a 19-year-old was shot. He was taken to a hospital for treatment.

Moments later deputies said they were alerted of a second shooting in the same area. Responding deputies found Martin suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
He was taken to the hospital by EMS where he later died.
During the investigation, deputies said they found a silver Nissan Altima with bullet holes. They then learned four men got out the vehicle and ran away.

Further investigation led detectives to a "sufficient probable cause" to obtain a warrant for Armant's arrest. He was taken into custody on Thursday, Oct. 24 on charges of criminal conspiracy to commit first-degree murder.
The investigation remains ongoing.
